I'm writing this post as a little preview of what's to come.

I'm pretty exhausted in all honesty. I've been on vacation for the last week and I will be for the next but I will write this week.

Once I come back, however, I will start to write more frequently and prepare to begin writing daily in September.

I've got a few projects that I want to get started to link to the blog and I hope to get those up and running as soon as I can. 

For now, enjoy the remaining weeks in summer!

  Simon B I was thinking that I could do a weekly offseason checkup for the NHL and the NBA during the summer. Since the NBA finals are still in full swing, I'll start with the NHL and take a dive into the moves that have happened since the finals ended last week.  With both the expansion draft and player entry draft coming up next week, this can serve a bit as a preview for that as well. First Big Trade The Chicago Blackhawks traded Duncan Kieth to the Edmonton Oilers along with winger Tim Soderlund in exchange for defensemen Caleb Jones and a conditional third-round pick in next summer's draft.  There's a lot to unpack here. Edmonton: First of all, Kieth will go down as one of the best defensemen to ever play in Chicago and he was a major part of the three Stanley Cups that were won in the Windy City from 2010 until 2015. He won the Conn Smythe as playoff MVP in 2015 as well. Although there isn't really much space for the 38-year-old on the Hawks roster.  Chicago is a

First AL East Battle of 2022

  Simon B The Blue Jays opened the 2022 season with a series win over the Texas Rangers. This was the first opening day at Rogers Center for the Jays since the 2019 season and a lot has changed since then. While that opening series told us a lot about what this team can do, they played a team that just isn't going to be playing at the level the Jays are looking to be at this year.  However, they get to play the Yankees for four games this week and I think this series will give us a good early look at how most specifically the pitching staff will fair against a top-class offense. Bullpen Limitations The Jays pitchers had to cover 27 innings and only 8.2 innings were played by starting pitchers with Kevin Gausman going 5 decent innings on Saturday for his first start with Toronto.  That said, the bullpen was the biggest question mark coming into this year and they definitely got some work in and it wasn't very glamorous against a lineup that, with all due respect, doesn't com

 Game 2: Leafs vs. Sens Simon B It's literally the second game of the season and this team has already found a way to infuriate its entire fan base. The Leafs lost 3-2 to the Ottawa Senators in what was the Sens season opener last night, and they did it in a way that makes me feel like they didn't come to play. Sure, Ottawa is playing their first game of the season and the Leafs are on the second half of a back-to-back, but it's the Senators for crying out loud! Not only that, but their best player and, in my opinion, the future captain was in the stands waving to the crowd after signing his contract extension hours earlier. This entire game felt like the Leafs were possessed by some sort of evil dark-magic force that was preventing them from doing anything all while giving Ottawa almost every single lucky bounce in the world (except for that time they hit the post).
